Privacy Policy

The short version

No accounts, names, emails, ads, analytics or tracking.
Your saved game, settings and win record stay on your device.
Optional online rooms in the iPhone/iPad app and on our website send gameplay and a random seat identifier to our server. Rooms expire after 24 hours without a game action.

1. Who we are

Race for Ohm is published by Holman Lane Publishing LLC, an Oregon limited liability company (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the Game handles in each version.

2. Local play and store editions

Solo and pass-and-play games run on your device. Your current offline game, bot difficulty, win/loss record, recent road layouts and first-run tips are stored locally. We do not receive these offline saves. Deleting the app or clearing its browser data erases them.

The iPhone/iPad app offers optional online rooms beginning with version 1.0 build 7. Earlier builds and the current Google Play and itch.io editions support offline play only. Our app uses Capacitor to run the game and, on iPhone/iPad, to connect to online rooms. We do not include advertising, analytics or tracking services and do not request location, contacts, camera, microphone or photo access.

Apple, Google and itch.io may collect information when you browse, buy or download the Game under their own privacy policies.

3. Website and online rooms

Our hosting provider processes technical information such as IP addresses, browser or app request information and requested pages to deliver the website and online rooms and protect them from abuse. It may retain standard service logs under its policies.

Creating, joining or returning to an online room sends and stores:

The eight-character room code and gameplay, including the map, moves, scores and readiness for the next race. Your opponent sees the shared game and room code.
A random seat key created on your device and sent over encrypted HTTPS. The room database stores a one-way hash of this key to recognize your seat when you return. The original key stays in local storage on your device. It is not your Apple account, email or real name.
For abuse prevention, a one-way hash combining your IP address with a time interval and request category. These short-lived rate-limit records expire after about two minutes.

Rooms become inaccessible 24 hours after the last room-changing action (such as joining or moving). Expired room and rate-limit records are removed in batches when later rooms are created; removal from storage may occur after the expiry time. We do not promise deletion at an exact time.

There are no accounts, player-entered names, profiles or chat messages. Share your room code only with your intended opponent: someone with the code can take an empty seat. Keep your seat key private. Returning to an existing room reconnects automatically; leaving the room removes its key from your device.

4. How we use and share information

We use the limited information above only to run the Game and online rooms and to keep them secure. We do not sell or rent personal information, do not share it for advertising, and do not use it to profile you. We may disclose information if required by law, or to a successor if the Game or our business is transferred; this policy would continue to apply to that information.

5. Children

Children can use the offline modes without sending gameplay to us. Online rooms process the limited gameplay, identifiers and technical information described above for game operation and security. They have no chat, profiles or player-entered names, and we do not use the information for advertising or profiling. A parent or guardian may contact us about a child’s information or request deletion, subject to applicable law.

6. Your choices and rights

You can play entirely offline and never use online rooms. You can erase all locally stored data by deleting the app or clearing the site’s data. We do not ask for your real identity. A room code and relevant details can help us locate room data when handling a request; do not send your private seat key. You may still contact us with any privacy request, and we will respond as applicable law requires. That includes requests under U.S. state privacy laws or the GDPR.

7. Security and retention

The room database stores hashes of seat keys and IP-based rate-limit values; the hosting service also processes connection information as described above. Requests use HTTPS. Retention and cleanup are described in section 3. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes and discontinuation

We may update this policy. The updated version will be posted with the Game or on our website with a new effective date. If we discontinue online rooms, we will arrange cleanup of remaining room records; access expiry alone does not delete stored records.
